DEAR ANGUS FAMILY,
It is a privilege but also a great responsibility for ROMANIA to host the EUROPEAN ANGUS FORUM from 11-18 may 2026.
Romania is a country located in southeastern Europe characterized by a unique natural setting in the world, represented by plains, hills, mountains (the Carpathian), the sea (Black Sea) and the Danube Delta. Agriculture contributes to the country’s economy with a share of 4.3% of GDP. According to the last report from EUROSTAT, Romania ranks 5th in terms of livestock within E.U.. Regarding cattle, data show that Romania cattle population is 1.9 milion/heads, the equivalent of 2,5% from E.U., of which 1,38 milion is dairy cattle. The history of Aberdeen Angus breed on our country is probably one of the newest worldwide.
The first import of purebred animals took place in 2008 when Karpaten Meat from Sibiu, brought the first 120 heifers from Germany. Romanian Aberdeen Angus Association was founded in december 2012 and the herdbook of the breed started in 2015. Nowadays Aberdeen Angus cattle are spread in all over the country, the total number of suckler cows being 47.980 purebred, 129.256 total heads and 1.793 breeders.
Our E.A.F. 2026 – FULL TOUR will start from Cluj – Napoca on 11 of MAY 2026, and it will end on 18 of MAY 2026 in our capital Bucharest. The tour will mark specific touristic key points from our country in our way, like: Cluj Napoca, Sovata, Biertan, Sibiu, Dracula Castle, Brasov and Bucharest. In this journey to our outstanding country we will visit seedstock farms, feedlots, bull testing station, slaughterhouse and animal exhibition.
Come and join us at the European Angus Forum for a unique experience where you will discover biodiversity, traditions, gastronomy, tourism and of course the Aberdeen Angus cattle of Romania.
